About T-Mobile in Poland
T-Mobile is one of the largest mobile networks in Poland providing a range of telecommunication services to individual and business customers. It offers both mobile and fixed-line telephony and Internet access in pre-paid, post-paid and mix systems.
Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa S.A. (PTC) is the operator of the T-Mobile network in Poland. PTC was founded in 1995 as a limited liablity company. On August 1st, 2011 PTC was transformed into a joint-stock company. Deutsche Telekom Group, a global telecommunication concern, the owner of T-Mobile and T-Sytems, is the first co-founder and currently the sole owner of PTC. Deutsche Telekom is one of the world’s leading integrated telecommunications companies with around 128 million mobile customers, 36 million fixed-network lines and approximately 17 million broadband lines. Deutsche Telekom is present in over 50 countries.
Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa commenced its commercial activity in 1996 under the Era GSM brand which was later changed to Era. The company rapidly became one of the largest telecommunications companies in Poland. PTC was the first Polish operator to introduce GPRS data transmission services, UMTS technology and video-calls via the mobile phone. It enabled customers access to the HSDPA and HSPA+ Dual Carrier technology for broadband data transmission. With its range covering almost 100% of the area of Poland, the operator provides its services to over 16.04 million customers.
On June 5, 2011 PTC introduced the international T-Mobile brand in Poland which replaced the Era brand. As a result, PTC customers can now benefit from a range of services available to 128 million T-Mobile clients all around the world. PTC is presently the second largest company in Deutsche Telekom’s European footprint.
State-of-the-art technology is the hallmark of the T-Mobile portfolio, e.g., WLAN, HSPA+, HSPA+ Dual Carrier, HSPA, UMTS, EDGE and GPRS, to mention just a few. T-Mobile’s offer of mobile phones includes the most advanced models, such as iPhone 4S.
PTC employs approximately 4800 people and is ranked among top Polish employers.
The company is one of the leading sponsors of cultural, sports, educational and charity events in Poland, e.g., the “Nowe Horyzonty” (“New Horizons”) film festival, the “Era Jazzu” (“Era Jazz”) concert series and the “Razem dla innych” (“Together for Others”) volunteering programme. For its sponsorship activities the company was distinguished by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage as Benefactor of Polish Culture.
